1927 or 1928 William De Vore, Mechanician at right who was planning on filling in for his late father at Indy 1930. Hello Reader, If you are anything like I am the 500 holds fond memories of watching with Dad on the TV. My earliest recollection is watching on the TV with Dad in 1968 or 1969 ( I recall yellow footy fleece vividly ). Yesterday, I was having a chat with Jonathan Gashel - Lay Down Kart Racer, Mechanic and Father. As we caught up, he mentioned that he and his oldest son Micah are flying in Saturday to meet up with Jonathan's Dad to continue the tradition of going to the 500. Jonathan's Dad has gone since 1983 - only missing 1999 & 2020. Jonathan started in 1988 and missed 1996, 1999 and 2020. Micah since 2017, also missing 2020. Happy Thursday There is s suggestion on the part of my film mentor to look into a slightly better camera with a different lens and better manual control of the F-stop. He is right since it will avoid much post shoot audio syncing, but the budget it was it is - invisible ha ha That has led me on the hunt for a DSLR with changeable lenses and external mic input. Since I am currently committed to Canon I have begun the hunt for a refurbished or gently used T6i or better and a 100 mm lens. If anyone has a lead, please contact me. K Back to it
Hey what's up? When we were interviewing Jacques in January he mentioned a few names. Some with a smile and some with a little side eye. The Jacques classic eye - twinkle was in full force when he named Bob Butte. I didn't know Bob but his name was "Russell Familiar"... you know that effect I am sure: "I have heard than name and I know a guy that knows a guy that knows him" Well now I know Bob Butte. He gave me three hours on a call with some fun stories and a real appreciation of the early Jim Russell in Canada and America stories too. Can't wait to share Bob's stories... but he is the only MTP that was a three year student. For teh love of motorsport.
